3.4 COMPREHENSIVE BOOT LISTING--VIDEO

3.5 TEXASFLOOD LIST-SPAWNED MATERIAL

The TexasFlood mailing list is a good place to trade audio and video material by Stevie, and other artists associated with him. At times, members of the list will create a NEW compilation of either Stevie's material or that of someone else. These tapes are available only by trading tapes/blanks and are never sold.

The first tape tree to distribute a pre-existing recording was the 6/19/85 Red Rocks show treed by davidm1339@aol.com.

Meanwhile, the first tape compiled and circulated by 'flooders soon followed, and is named "White Lightnin' " (note the double entendre connection to Lightnin' Hopkins). The art work for the case was also put together by Mark Watkins. The "White Lightnin' " track listing is as follows:

Side 1:
untitled blues shuffle Rude Mood
Lenny
Untitled Delta Blues (Berkeley, 10/14/85)
Rude Mood
Pride and Joy
Testify (from MTV Unplugged)
Ain't gone n' give up on love
Scuttle Buttin'
Beck's Boogie
Dirty Pool (from Timothy White interview, n.d. listed)
Untitled Jam (no year given, from a July 4 radio broadcast)
T'bone 'n' Lightnin" (from MTV Rock Influences interview, n.d.)

Side 2:
Rude Mood
Pipeline (02/28/87, US Presidente, MTV Mardis Gras show)
Blues Jam (Austin City Limits, 89)
Hug You, Squeeze You (Toronto, 1983)
Thunderbird (Dallas, 1988)
You Done Lost Your Good Thang Now
Lenny
Stang's Swang (Davis, California 1984)
Slip Slidin' Slim (studio outake, 1984)

A third tape distributed by 'Flooders is entitled "Testifying." It is a tribute to Stevie's sobriety and the message he passed on through words and music during the later years of his life. The track listing is as follows:

Side A:
Scuttle Buttin' (Oakland Coliseum, CA, 12/3/89)
Say What?! (Waterloo Village, Stanhope, NJ, 7/5/90)
Tightrope (Sundome, Tampa, FL, 11/22/89)
You'll Be Mine (U. of Maine, Orono, 4/8/88)
Leave My Girl Alone (Red Rocks Amphitheater, Morrison, CO 9/5/88)
Ain't Gone n' Give Up On Love (Wembly Arena, UK, 6/24/88)
Travis Walk (Starlight Theater, Kansas City, 8/1/89)

Side B:
Tin Pan Alley (Red Rocks Amphitheater, Morrison CO, 8/21/89)
Wall of Denial (Auditorium Shores, Austin, TX, 11/26/89)
Life Without You (Concord Pavilion, CA 10/9/88)
Riviera Paradise (Waterloo Village, Stanhope NJ, 7/5/90 (intro from Tampa 11/22/89)
Lost Your Good Thing Now (cut) (The Pier, NYC, 8/20/88)

"Trouble With The Angels" is another tape created by `Flooders. This one has material by Stevie Ray Vaughan and Double Trouble, and also material by the Arc Angels, a group that Tommy Shannon and Chris Layton (Double Trouble) were a part of after Stevie's death.

(Track list unavailable at this writing)

In the works now (as of 5/96) is a "TexasFlood Tribute Tape". This tape will be a compilation of music performed by musicians who are members of the `Flood, doing tributes to Stevie. There has been much discussion, and even a couple of aborted efforts, to make a videotape of Austin, showing Stevie's old hang-outs and favorite places. As of this writing, this tape has not been made, but will eventually come to fruition.

More compilations are likely to circulate in the future. If you are interested in obtaining these or any other `Flood-spawned materials, a grovel to the list is probably your best bet. You might also check out Mark Watkins' home page at:

http://www.telepath.com/markw

Mark (a major force behind "White Lightnin' ") keeps a track list online there.
