The Cape Floral Kingdom , the smallest and most diverse of the six plant kingdoms of the world, covers only 0.02% of the world's land surfaces yet 8600 plants occur in the floral kingdom of which 5800 - or 68% are endemic (they can only be found in the Cape Floral Kingdom).  |
|
|
The five types of vegetation found are Fynbos (mountain, coastal and limestone), Renosterveld, Thicket, Succulent Karoo and Afromotane Forest. Fynbos constitutes 80% of the Cape Floral Kingdom and consists of Proteoids, Erica's, Restios and the geophytes, or bulbous plants.   All five vegetation types of the Cape Floral Kingdom are present in the greater Mossel Bay area and Dana Bay is known for its coastal and limestone fynbos. Eagles Eyrie Self-catering Studios lies in the heart of the Cape Floral Kingdom. |
